Every linux server comes with a root password and you can change your servers root password by two ways.
- Login to your root SSH by using your currently root password, just like you have installed SonicPanel before. Then run the following command to change your root password.
passwd
- You can also change your servers root password from the server management panel, provided by your server provider company if they have a root password change feature on their server management panel.
If you forgot your root password, the only way to retrive is to contact your server provider company. The root password should not be forgotten at all.
If you have a server from the OHV company, read this article to reset your root password: https://kb.sonicpanel.com/article.php?id=61
* Your SonicPanel root login is using the same password of your servers root password always. So if you change your root password, your SonicPanel detects it automatically and you need to use your new password to login to SonicPanel root.
